1. Start with manual cleansing. Hold your horses, beauty queen! Before whipping out your Clarisonic, I recommend washing your face the old-fashioned way: with your hands. This will loosen up stubborn dirt and debris and ensure even distribution of your face wash of choice. After sudsing up, use your Clarisonic to get your skin six times cleaner.
2. Experiment with different brushes. With brushes for all types of skin conditions and concerns–including normal, sensitive, delicate, and deep pore cleansing–you will want to switch things up once in awhile. Not only will this help you discover the perfect brush for you, but changing brushes every so often will allow you to enjoy all that your Clarisonic has to offer.
3. Remove the brush after each use. This prevents nasty mold from building up inside your Clarisonic by letting it dry completely. If you remember this tip, keeping your Clarisonic clean and germ-free is easy: just wash the unit and brush head with hot soapy water as needed. (Since you’ll be washing your face anyway, you should already have these things on hand!)
4. Don’t press down too hard. Like its predecessor, the Sonicare toothbrush, the Clarisonic cleanses with sonic technology. Not only do you not need to apply much pressure to get results, but doing so may actually impede the Clarisonic’s sonic cleansing action. Instead of pressing down, allow the Clarisonic to gently glide over your skin in a circular motion.
5. Remember your warranty. About a year after purchasing my first Clarisonic, the unthinkable happened: it broke! Luckily, I remembered my warranty, and after a quick and painless phone call to Clarisonic, they shipped out a brand new unit to me with a pre-paid shipping label for me to ship back the old one. It couldn’t have been easier!
